Apple Oatmeal
APPLE OATMEAL
Plain oatmeals is fine, but why not add a little variety to this staple for breakfast. With this recipe, you’ll enhance the taste and the nutritional value of just oatmeal alone.
Enjoy a delectable breakfast with this recipe for apple oatmeal! This recipe gives a sweet flavor to your plain oatmeal but stays healthy without so much sugar. So enjoy a good start to your day with this tasty apple breakfast treat.
- 1 apple, any variety, peeled and finely chopped
- 1/2 t. salt
- 2 1/3 C. apple juice
- 2 t. honey
- 1 1/3 C. quick-cooking rolled oats
- 1 t. vanilla extract
- 1 t. ground cinnamon
- Vanilla yogurt and chopped walnuts, optional
- Peel apples and cut out core, slice up.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine apples, apple juice, oats, cinnamon and salt.
- Bring mixture to a boil and boil for 1 minute, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in honey and vanilla.
- Cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
- Serve hot, topped with yogurt and sprinkling of walnuts if desired. Makes 4 servings.
